Please help sponsor Stevie

This is Stevie as named by his soon to be foster mom. He should be 45-50 lbs but is about 36 lbs. He was dumped in the gate drop box at a shelter in Brevard County, FL. very emaciated and Heartworm positive. The shelter thinks he is a terrier mix and looks like he lost his hair. We think he really is supposed to be hairless but we will find out soon, either way he needed to be helped. Crest Care has stepped up and has pulled this boy from the shelter and put him into the care of a wonderful vet in Brevard County, Fl where he is receiving medical care and boarding for 7-10 days so we can get some weight on him and get him started on his journey to St. Louis, MO where his foster family has hopes to get him totally healthy. Thankfully he has a really good appetite so it should not be too hard to get him to a good weight. His teeth are bad and so in addition to Heartworm treatment and altering, he will need a dental but even with all of this, he is a really sweet kid. This poor little boy has a long hard road ahead of him and as long as he is up for it, Crest Care will be right there to help him.

We had established a fund called the Nate Memorial fund in honor of a former Crest Care dog who was emaciated and very ill when Crest Care took him in several years ago. He recovered and lived a wonderful life with his adopted family and only recently passed away. He inspired us to set up this fund to help kids like him. We will be using money from this fund to help Stevie and if you would like to help us help Stevie, please click the next to Stevie's name. Thank you for your support.

6/14/10 Update - Stevie is eating well and wagging his tail lots. The staff at the vet clinic where he is says he is very sweet and they are taking very good care of him. He had a routine panel of blood work so we could make sure there was nothing else wrong we needed to deal with and thankfully other than the Heartworm positive, all the rest of his blood work is good. Due to his thyroid levels being within normal range, we are now pretty sure that he is a hairless dog of some breed or possibly a hairless breed mixed with something else. For now we are calling him a giant Crestie. Now we just need to get him to St. Louis, MO where his foster family is anxiously awaiting his arrival and he can start his Heartworm treatment.

Please help sponsor Jazzie

We all know Cresties "think" they can fly, but unfortunately Jazzie learned the hard way that no matter how angelic she may be, she still doesn't have wings. Jazzie jumped off a chair, landed wrong and broke her leg in two places. Thankfully it is a clean break, but still requires restricted activities for a minimum of six weeks and, of course, lots of TLC from foster mom and dad. Won't you please help us defray the costs of Jazzie's airborn adventures.

A Few of The West Virginia Dogs

These beautiful Cresties are a few of the dogs that Crest-Care took in from the recent West Virginia massive undertaking. While these beautiul dogs were in reasonably good health all things considered, each has required vetting to include altering, dentals, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and deworming. As you can see, Crest-Care was also blessed with two beautiful Crestie girls who have been named Carrie and Samantha (mom is Miranda....and yes, we have a Charlotte, too). Crest-Care is committed to caring for all of these dogs until they have been socialized and are well on their way to learning that life is fun when not spending your days living in a tiny cage. Some are coming around faster than others, but all will be loved and cherished from this day forward...this we promise to all Crest-Care kids. Please consider sponsoring one or more of these gorgeous Cresties as we help them make the journey into their new lives.

 Jocoby

Jocoby is a male Chinese Crested who was rescued from an Anti-Cruelty Society. He suffered a break in his leg that wasn't treated, probably when he was very young which caused the growth plates to form his bones incorrectly and make him walk on the outside of his toes. His orthopedic surgeon felt that even though surgery will cause him to have arthritis at some point, the way his leg had grown would bring the arthritis on even earlier. Jocoby is recovering well from his surgery and will require extensive medical care during his recovery.

UPDATE
Jacoby recovered very well from his surgery and has been adopted.

Mark

Mark is an older, sweet boy that has been having a tough time with his health recently. His rectum is prolapsing and he has been having bouts of bloody diarrhea. He will be having an ultrasound soon to see if we can pinpoint the cause of his problems. He loves the good life with his foster family despite his problems.
